The latest, from my sister-in-law...

"...My mom just spoke to Cora’s grandma, and the next 78 hours are VERY critical for Cora. She has not had a good day and the doctors decided to start chemo rather than waiting until she had more time to heal from the surgery. A critical component is Cora’s potassium levels. If they go up, it could cause sudden death. Cora’s grandma asked that she be put on every prayer chain possible. There are no words to describe this. As a friend told me this morning, we need to CHOOSE to believe that God is in control of Cora’s life. Thank you for your faithfulness to pray. God, we pray that you would spare Cora’s life."

Please read Joel and Jess's blog for more of the story.

A note from me:
Though we no longer live close to them, Joel and Jess are the kind of friends you always stay friends with. Jared and Joel grew up together, roomed together for 2 years in college, stood up for each other at their weddings, and their families are still tight, like family. I met both Joel and Jess at K-State where Jared and I spent many an evening/double date with them. We even got engaged within a month of each other, as well as married within a week of each other. So our lives have paralleled each other in numerous ways. Jess and I have both been elementary teachers, too. I don't even want to imagine what they are going through and how hard this must be... it seems surreal to me still because things are happening so fast. Please lift them and Cora up in prayer, that we would get to witness God's power in these circumstances and that He would save her from the cancer. Thank you.

Hey Emily,

I found Cora's family page off of one of the Veers blogs. Then I found your link off of theirs. It's a small world.

I didn't realize you were friends of theirs. I am so sorry for what they are going through. I can't imagine. We are praying for Cora and spreading the word to as many as we can so they can pray, too.
