Kate is obsessed with marriage and babies lately. No reason why other than a lot of the Bible stories she has been learning about lately have to do with babies! So, a few weeks ago when I was changing Sam's diaper, this was the conversation...
Kate: Mom, will I get married when I am taller? (Getting taller is how she defines growing up.)
Me: Yes. If you find a good guy that you love.
(brief pause while she's thinking...then her eyes light up)
Kate: I'm going to marry my daddy!
Me: But I'm already married to him.
(pause again...)
Kate: But that's the prince I want!
She refers to all brides as princesses and grooms as princes. I think she honestly thinks that's what you are when you get married. That probably comes from our extensive conversations about why Belle doesn't have a crown in the Beauty and the Beast movie. I told her she doesn't become a princess until she marries the beast. So that's probably where that came from I guess. That, and the fact that she sees brides with tiaras.
Now for Sam. This past week we were on the go a lot (what's new?) and Sam kept saying "I wanna go home" when we were in the car. I didn't understand because he has never seemed to care about this before and I started feeling guilty for taking him all over creation with me. Then, on Friday, we were at the breakfast table and he said it again, "I wanna go home!" I told him, "Sam, we are at home." Then after a little discussion, I realized he was saying he wanted to go back to see Grandmom and Grandpop, who we had visited the weekend before. I said, "You want to go to Grandmom's house?" And he nodded solemnly, "Pop-pop." It was so cute!
