When I think back on Kate in July, I think of it as the month she started talking. She had been accumulating words for the past 6 months, but once she turned 2 at the beginning of the month, it was like something clicked. Now she talks in 2 or 3 word phrases/sentences and is quick to tell you what she wants, of course!
Some things from this summer that I want to remember:
- Kate loves to look through photo albums and name people. She also goes around naming people's stuff. "Mommy's swimsuit" "Kate's towel".
- For awhile, her favorite word has been "Now!" "Eat now. Drink now. Walk now. Read now." We're working on "Please" :)
- She also likes the word "Yum!" She'll say, "Peach. Yum!"
- She is enjoying having longer books (not just board books) read to her.
- Kate is fearless in the pool (which is scary for me!)
- She's had her first experiences in time out :(
- Now she can ride her little Radio Flyer trike all over, backwards and forwards (for the longest time she just went backwards).
- She's recognizing some colors.
- She will turn on the radio by herself and start dancing.
- Kate usually likes to help and often gets out the silverware on her own and "sets the table". Her style, of course.
- Cutest of all, she asks for "Kiss" (on the lips!) Followed by "And a hug".
- She had a great 2 year old check up with her pediatrician and the orthopedic specialist. She is now average height AND weight. Her hip x-ray was normal, so she doesn't have to go back to get that checked until her 3 year old birthday.
- She loves her flip flops and sometimes changes shoes several times a day.
- At her two year old portraits, she would not sit still, just wanted to run around, but was happy and laughing. Luckily, the photographer was quick!
I hope she has so much fun being a big sister!
